During May of 2021 and September of 2021, broadband magnetotelluric data were collected at 324 sites in a 10000 square Kilometer area. The survey was completed by scientist from the Finish Geological Survey (GTK) in cooperation with colleagues from Boliden, and summer students.
Winter makes accessing areas without road coverage possible with the use of snowmobiles. March is the month of choice in northern Scandinavia due to sufficient daylight yielding reasonable work-days. MT measurements in the snow makes installation a bit more time consuming but the added stability of the environment have positive effects on the data.
At some swampy areas that are inaccessible in summer, we decided to to do MT measurements in spring, March 2022. The inaccessible areas become accessible because those areas are frozen and covered by deep snow. In most cases, the depth of snow is up to 75 cm.
